Library outreach in Banate last February 21

The Iloilo Provincial Library and Archives once again extended its literacy and storytelling program at Banate National Child Development Center, located at Banate, Iloilo last February 21, 2025.

Joined by seventy-four (74) pupils, the program gave prominence to enhancing the imagination and encouraging pupils to embrace a love for reading through a storytelling session led by Mr. Rey Nan Bermudo with the story entitled ‘Isang Araw sa Palengke’. Following the storytelling, interactive activities such as ‘count and colors’ and ‘fill in the missing letters’ were conducted, making the day filled with more fun and excitement.

This marks the fourth storytelling activity of the Iloilo Provincial Library and Archives this year, 2025 – following the first session that was conducted in Maasin, Iloilo, and the second in Leganes, Iloilo.

Ms. Rosie Gelle, Librarian II, delivered a brief welcome message for the pupils and teachers present at the said event. In her speech, she highlighted the library’s external services such as bookmobile, book donations, storytelling activities, arts and crafts, and inventory of valueless records. School materials were also handed out to students before the end of the activity.

The Iloilo Provincial Library and Archives staff also got the opportunity to visit the Banate Municipal Library afterward, where they were given a tour by Ms. Geovy Lynne Delicana-Superal, the librarian-in-charge. The staff have been given a chance to explore other libraries, thus, creating an opportunity to build and strengthen connections among the libraries.
